The main goal for this 250 sqm house in Sant Cugat, Barcelona, was to redefine the existing spaces within the dwelling through cohesion and simplification. To break up the previous compartmentalization of the ground floor where all the living areas are gathered, the project dissolves some of the physical boundaries and introduces curved lines to create a seamless circulation.

The materiality in these spaces stays consistent using neutral tones and a light grey stone flooring that spreads out to the terraces. The outdoor areas in each floor gradually incorporate greenery merging the gardens with the nature preserve of the Serra de la Collserola.

A warmer environment resonates in the upper floors where the private areas are located. The complex geometry of the existing timber roof lays out the distribution of the plan, aiming to simplify the strategy and volumes of the spaces. The combination of this articulated timber structure with a natural wooden flooring and warm hues leads to a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.
