Il locale si compone di due ambienti coperti con volte a vela e a crociera collegati da una scala di pochi gradini. L’ambiente inferiore è stato completamente riportato alle origini lasciando in evidenza la struttura muraria e le volte in blocchi di tufo mentre nell’ambiente superiore la volta a crociera lascia a vista la sua struttura in pietra crosta. L’intervento prevede una riqualificazione dello spazio interno nonché la rimodulazione distributiva che ha consentito così di ottenere un camerino nell’ambiente inferiore e 2 camerini con un servizio bagno nell’ambiente superiore. Il perimetro del locale inferiore viene regolarizzato attraverso la rotazione della porta d’ingresso e delle pareti dell’arredamento interno riportando la configurazione dell’ambiente principale ad una semplicità compositiva ortogonale. Il progetto rappresenta la sintesi tra esistente e contemporaneo, traendo forza attraverso il contrasto tra il fondale della struttura muraria e l’arredamento spiccatamente moderno costituito da molteplici ordini di materiali e colori diversi che corrono perimetralmente salendo di quota, staccandosi dalle pareti, intersecandosi e invadendo lo spazio centrale diventando, infine, tavoli sostenuti da cubi di luce. L’integrazione tra esistente e nuovo avviene attraverso una pelle merlata che evita il taglio netto orizzontale e consente una maggiore integrazione con l’apparato murario in tufo. Sulla stessa linea, l’utilizzo a parete di vecchi cassetti di recupero come cornici espositive e la realizzazione di banchi espositivi in cui si ripete il contrasto tra vecchio e nuovo accostando una gamba di un vecchio tavolo con 2 cassetti di recupero alle forme rigide e trasparenti dei piani di cristallo. Per finire, la scelta di un pavimento con la tonalità della pietra locale ed un’illuminazione che riflette i toni caldi del tufo e del legno unificano tutto l’intervento.

The setting consists of two rooms covered with vaults and cross vaults connected by a staircase of few steps. The lower room has been completely reported to the origins leaving out the wall structure and tuff while in the upper room the vault is left to its origins with a structure in stone crust. The project involves a remodeling of the interior space as well as the distribution that has allowed it to get a dressing room in the lower space and 2 dressing rooms and a bathroom in the upper room. The perimeter of the lower room is made regular by the rotation of the front door and of the interior walls , in this way, the main ambience gets a simple orthogonal redistribution. The project represents a synthesis of existing and contemporary and draws its power through the contrast between the bottom of the wall structure and the modern decor consisting of several orders of materials and colors. These elements run the perimeter climbing, breaking off from the walls, then they intersect and invade the central area turning into tables supported by cubes of light. The integration between existing and new elements takes place through a crenellated skin which avoids the horizontally sharp cut and allows a better integration with the existing tuff walls. Along the same lines, the use of old recovery drawers as wall frames and the production of exhibition stands consisting in a leg of an old table with 2 recovery drawers combined with the rigid and transparent forms of crystal planes, gives emphasis to the contrast between old and new approach. At the end, the choice of a floor with the hue of the local stone and the lighting that reflects the warm tones of limestone and wood gives consolidation to the whole action.
