Werknetz Architektur AG was commissioned by the Migros Genossenschaft Zurich to develop the bridge that gave it its name. This means that the longest indoor bridge in Switzerland is located in the middle of the city of Zurich. With a length of around 26 meters, the bridge forms the heart of the new meeting place for people who enjoy themselves. The bridge represents the brand externally and at the same time creates identity internally. It is the distinctive center and place of communication, exchange and enjoyment thanks to the integrated bar on the bridge. In this transfer space, the spatial idea unfolds as a complex spatial system and structures the food and market hall. A student staircase to the bridge invites you to linger with a view of the track field, while two express entrances - elevator and direct staircase - direct the flow of movement in the hall as direct connections. For visitors, the transfer room with the bridge is the architectural highlight, a development and experience space and an identity-forming, overarching orientation element.
The expression of the suspension bridge is further enhanced by the industrial look. The theme defined throughout is "rough". As a result, steel construction is omnipresent in the bridge and shows itself in all its facets - welded, scrubbed and riveted.
