Tucked away down one of Melbourne CBD's hidden laneways and residing in Alkira House, one of Melbourne’s most beautiful examples of the Jazz Moderne Style of Art Deco Architecture resides speakeasy bar Jayda.

Studio Y took inspiration from the historic 1930s building without being too obvious or typically art deco.  Jayda has been designed to push the boundaries of art deco. The use of dark timber stains and gemstone coloured tones creates a feeling of opulence without being too flashy. The specialty painted distressed walls create a sense of inner-city grit juxtaposed with the glossy mirrored surfaces. The lighting plays a huge part in creating the correct ambience for a late-night speakeasy, the dimly lit space is warm and inviting whilst the red wall lights create a unique red glow creating a sense of intrigue from the laneway outside.
