Artsy Cascais | Marta Carreira

The aim is to create a concept for the interior design of a boutique Hotel located in front of the “Forte da Cidadela” em  Cascais and facing the sea. There is a "Main House" with a history and there is a "New Construction" - a contemporary building, this one with the facade of  the artist VHILS. Both will have their own identity - like two siblings, each with their own personality. The older one takes care of the younger one, and although their age difference is obvious, they both respect each other and live in perfect harmony. The finishes and furniture will be "clean," simple,  and at the same time, of a material nobility that enhances their own spatial presence. We will have all the architectural interest of this house, which will be respected and at the same time "emphasised" by the simplicity in the choice and the use of materials and the way they coexist, giving them space to breathe and shine. Simple pastel colours for the walls, natural wood and stone for the furniture, and linen and raw fabrics to give the rooms the necessary comfort are the chosen materials - especially since they will also be used in the New building. This creates another "link" between the two buildings: in the purity of forms and the use of their materials, to respect the Old and not overly overshadow its younger sibling as if they "shared the same clothes."The artist proposed by Marta Carreira to "inhabit" the house and create a connection with this kind of “art movement” was London artist, Fipsi Seilern - "PANG" - whose triptych canvas was placed in the vertical circulation area of the house. The image was then reproduced on the wall of the “Library Bar”. Here the artist expresses the desire for "Street Art" and "Graffiti" coexist rather than conflict with each other. The hanging light by Gino Sarfatti and the stripe "Rico" sofas ,complete the "graphic"Design of this Library Bar.

The colours and textures of the fabrics evoke the BEACH, the Boats and the proximity of the SEA.

The hustle and bustle of social life and the desire for tranquillity, all wrapped up in the silence and mystery of the Sintra Mountains, which are so close.

LUXURY and the “cool” style of its inhabitants , the SIMPLICITY of the craftsmanship are present in the furniture all pieces designed by Marta and produced in PORTUGAL
This creats dialogues are created between the “cosmic duality” in which one does not exist without the other.

The "ART restaurant" in the hotel intends to function in both operations: the hotel and by him self. The proposal of a nude palette and simple frames that end on the mirrored ceiling , the black Marquina ceramic on the bar and the furniture in solid wood pretend to give a sophisticated but simple feeling pontued with the wine coloured cushions on the long sofas. The lighting has been carefully selected  and atelier ARETI has been chosen  as the Design brand  to complete the space and create  a soft dimmable and cosy environment.

The suspended luminaires on the vertical circulation give the impression of "drops of light"" also by ARETI.

 Art is scattered throughout the hotel, giving  guests the feeling  of walking through an art gallery
