Compromise is a stylish cocktail bar in the heart of St Petersburg. The name comes from the novels Compromise by Dovlatov, who lived and worked in the same house where the establishment is located.
The main feature of the space on Rubinstein Street is the large picture windows, which blur the boundary between the pedestrian zone and the interior space.
The designers had the task of creating a unique social club interior that would look as spectacular by day as by night.
On the one hand the bar should be cosy and the visitor would like to relax in the evening, but on the other hand the bar interior should create a wow-effect (especially in comparison to many other bars and restaurants in the street) and a certain sense of unreality.

There is a large contact bar in the centre of the room - behind it is the main seating area. The bar seems to 'rise' from the floor - its base is made of the same material - terrazzo - as the floor, creating the effect of a blurring of boundaries. Behind the bar is an illuminated shelving unit - the light playfully refracts into the bottles, setting a festive mood.

The main art object in the bar space is the lighting - a complex lighting fixture seems to flow from the ceiling to the floor, forming additional islands with small tables for diners. The tables seem to float above the ground, adding weightlessness and lightness. Using dimming, the lighting can be adjusted to create a different atmosphere for guests. The luxury of the place is underlined by the use of natural wood on the bar and window sills. The walls retain the ancient brickwork, which they have decided to use metal arches with lighting. The arches are reflected in gradient blue-green mirrors, creating a curious optical effect.
A separate interesting accent was the lavatory - we repeated the contours of the arches in the main hall in the form of a marble leaf and filled the space with the same soft glow.

Naked brickwork, terrazzo floors, metal, soft lighting and wood worktops, and arched lines set the unique mood and atmosphere of the bar.

All elements of the interior, apart from the chairs, have been individually sketched by our design team. The door handle is also designed in the general style of the lighting fixture.
