Taking on the heavy hitters of Melbourne Airport's dining scene, Biggie Smalls brings the heat with a vibrant take on Hip Hop's golden age.

Drawing interior inspiration from the streets of the 90's and the New York sub-culture throughout, Studio Y. curated a diverse take on Brooklyn design culture that contrasts perfectly with the modern Middle Eastern menu.

The finer details were important in this project where the client requested visual consistency with other restaurants in the line. Curated with a diversity of textures, the interior employs fixed stool elements with resounding American diner vibes contrasted with stainless steel details and vinyl upholstered seating.

Street art by local artist @jimmy_dvate was layered over brick-facing tiles in a nod to Brooklyn. Layered to depict a moody alleyway, tiled walls and internal street lighting draw 90's inspiration from the New York subway.

Consistent with the urban diversity we see in metropolitan cities, the space represents a layered coming together of contrasting style and era elements to create a level of authenticity throughout.
