Trapeze House | Nil Brullet Arquitectura

The dwelling is sited on a plot where the natural slope of the terrain, the inclined party walls, the backdrop of the Cadí mountain range, and the southern orientation define the fundamental directionality of the project. This directionality is achieved through the use of the elemental form of the trapezium, which configures, in both plan and section, the general volumes of the house and those of its various interior rooms. As a result of this configuration, the composition is stretched to project the space towards the good views and the sunlight.

Additionally, a duality of construction and structure is employed to establish the atmospheric sequence that defines the dwelling. On one hand, the stereotomic materiality of stone and concrete that support the house on the ground level configure the entrance porch, the circulation and service space of the ground and first floors, and the cave-like nature of the underground level. Furthermore, this materiality provides thermal inertia to the entirety of the dwelling. On the other hand, the tectonic lightness of wood that floats on the heavy volumes characterizes the access courtyard, configures the served interior spaces, and allows light to penetrate the underground level.

In summary, a series of generous openings in the different trapezoids connects the various interior spaces with one another and with the exterior, thereby generating a rich concatenation of visuals that integrates the atmospheric duality of the dwelling.

La casa se asienta sobre una parcela donde la pendiente natural del terreno, las medianeras inclinadas, el paisaje de fondo de la sierra del Cadí y la orientación sur, marcan la direccionalidad fundamental a la que el proyecto se enfoca mediante la forma elemental del trapecio que configura, en planta y sección, tanto los volúmenes generales de la casa como los de las diferentes piezas interiores, de tal manera que toda la composición queda tensada proyectando el espacio hacia las buenas vistas y la insolación.

Al mismo tiempo, se apuesta por una dualidad constructiva y estructural que configura la secuencia atmosférica que define la casa. Por un lado, la materialidad estereotómica de la piedra y el hormigón que asientan la casa sobre el terreno, configuran el porche de entrada, el espacio de circulación y servicios de las plantas baja y primera, la naturaleza cavernaria de la planta subterránea, y al mismo tiempo aportan inercia térmica al conjunto. Por otro lado, la ligereza tectónica de la madera que se apoya flotando sobre los volúmenes pesados, caracterizando el patio de acceso, configurando los espacios interiores servidos -el garaje y las diferentes estancias interiores-, y posibilitando la entrada de luz en medio del subterráneo.

Como síntesis, una serie de aberturas generosas en los diferentes trapecios, conectan los diferentes espacios entre sí y con el exterior, generando una rica concatenación de visuales que integra la dualidad atmosférica.
