The Rifugio lies in a forgotten valley in the Italian Alps. It's an architectural gem surrounded by nothing but nature, wild life and uninterrupted views.

The Rifugio is an architectural wonder, not only because of its clean and strict lines that reflect the natural shapes of the mountains, but also because of the way it was built. All materials were transported by helicopters.

A wooden support structure was placed inside the existing stone walls. The exterior is covered with larch wood that will take on the gray patina of the rocks over time. The meter thick walls bring the term passive house to the next level.

The front facade was radically removed. Thanks to the large windows that replaced it and the large terrace in front of it, Rifugio Val di Togno offers its guests a phenomenal view.

Inside, guests are embraced by the warmth of the wood, helped by a wood stove and underfloor heating. The rooms, each with its own bathroom, are elegantly decorated to create a sense of calm. Instead of the usual hotel kitsch, contemporary artworks were specially made for the building by different artists. The kitchen, resembling a block of granite dropped into the large living space, looks spartan but is luxurious.
