Whirlpool and its commitment to exceptional design

For the third year in a row, Whirlpool decided to renew its passionate commitment when it comes to exceptional design, in particular, through its partnership with INTERNI, the interiors and contemporary design magazine that is the driving force behind the FuoriSalone, located in Milan.  This year, from April 17th to April 26th,  the visitors will be able to enjoy Whirlpool's experience at University degli Studi di Milano in Via Festa del Perdono, 7 - with Whirlpool as a co-producer of INTERNI’s “DESIGN RE-EVOLUTION” exhibition. Whirlpool will showcase an artistic installation called the ‘Synesthetic Swirl’ by the exclusive and multi-awarded French Studio Odile Decq.

Studio Odile Decq is an international firm, established in 1979 and based in Paris and is currently  represented by the French architect Odile Decq. Her work materializes a complete universe that embraces urban planning, architecture, design and art. Moreover, the architecture of Studio Odile Decq, recognized and published around the world, has received numerous national and international awards.

INTERNI’s 2023 theme, “DESIGN RE-EVOLUTION”, sets out to provide a collective interpretation of the theme of Evolutionary Thinking taken as a design tool capable of activating the necessary synergies between different types of knowledge, stimulating positive contaminations regarding ideas for the use and regeneration of the territory, of products in the wider sense of the term (from objects to transport, material inventions to fashion), and above all the configuration of new spaces in our life.

The ‘Synesthetic Swirl’: a sensory and exciting journey

This year's Whirlpool installation will reflect its strong commitment to well-being and its mission to empower people to focus on what really matters in their lives, every day.  And it all starts with Whirlpool’s 6TH SENSE Technology that makes all its appliances intuitive to use. In order to achieve this, the ‘Synesthetic Swirl’ will come to life thanks to the use of two materials, metal and glass.

The Synesthetic Swirl is a sensory journey in two interlocking sequences and spaces. It begins by entering between two curved mirrored surfaces. One is perfectly reflective in polished stainless-steel while the other reveals a glimpse of a colourful and moving animation inside. As the visitor walks along the mirrored stainless-steel wall its reflection becomes twisted and multiplied. Whirlpool’s i100 induction hobs with CleanProtect, displayed as strong graphic visual elements, will animate the introductory path. The curved mirrored stainless-steel surface applies the same playful alteration to the body image and the hobs reflection. The visitor will be immersed in an atmosphere that simultaneously and randomly combines soothing sounds, lights of changing temperature and colour.

A Random Synesthetic combination for a unique experience, which through the mix of stimuli appeals to the 6TH SENSE, that of intuition. Beautifully immersive and sensitive on the inside and intriguing on the outside, the swirl will offer the possibility of a before or after. Like an initiatory journey, it is an experience of well-being, soothing and an escape through the senses.
