MAISON TERRE CRUE | Marine Bonnefoy

The house was built on a plot of land in terraces for private clients who wanted to have an eco-responsible house. They were thinking of wood. We suggested to them, given the Mediterranean climate, the stone or the raw earth. They immediately liked the idea of raw earth.

The main facade faces east and the adobe gables support the roof terrace (wood frame).

The raw of this site is from an earthwork site in Vitrolles (≃25km), it has not been reformulated or stabilized. Contains only its natural composition.

A prefabrication station developed by the company Nicolas Meunier to produce on site all the earth raw walls in 17 days.

Here some information about the structure of the house:

- Load-bearing raw earth wall 50 cm thick (North/East/South). Volume of earth: 80 m3.
- The lintels are made of galvanized metal, profiled and incorporated in the adobe.
- Concrete bases 50cm thick, left rough inside and outside. Function: To avoid water infiltration by capillary.
- West concrete wall 25cm thick, left rough inside and outside
Function: Structural to retain the west side hill and technical to accommodate the water rooms.
- Concrete walls of the patio: 20cm thick, left rough inside and outside.
