Situated on 30 acres in the heart of Zakynthos, the farmhouse is a slow-living holiday rental surrounded by olive groves and within easy access to the island’s sun-drenched beaches.

It is the family house of the owner’s grandparents and where they used to live and work, with the land providing one of their main sources of income. After a big earthquake and fire on the island, the house was significantly damaged and the grandparents moved to a house in another part of the village.

It stayed that way for a few decades until the current owner and her sister (who is an architect) decided to do something with the property. They wanted a place where people could connect with nature and agriculture, with a slow-living concept and beautiful views of the mountains. It’s a place for people who want to relax, away from the touristy part of Zakynthos.

In redesigning the farmhouse, the architect combined traditional architecture with modern styling. It’s very natural in its use of colours, both inside and out, and it has a cosiness that makes it feel like a home away from home. The building itself is not big or super luxurious - it has a very relaxed atmosphere.
