Casa Alentejana | João Favila Menezes

Casa Alentejana is an exclusive house with plenty of privacy and beautiful views across the fields of Alentejo. Made to enjoy life with friends & family this villa was designed by the architect João Favila Menezes. The house has become an important reference point for contemporary architecture in Alentejo.

The house is very comfortable and constructed from brick that has been covered with linen. In summer, it is very fresh, while in winter, it retains heat well. Everything is electric and water is sourced from the land.

When you enter the house, there’s a living room with a fireplace and a television equipped with Netflix. Adjacent is the kitchen, which is very well equipped with a fridge, espresso coffee machine and toaster. The dining room can seat 12 people and there is also a piano that guests are welcome to use. Central air conditioning is available throughout the house.

There are four bedrooms surrounding an interior patio. One has three bunk beds where kids and their friends sleep. There is also a Wii here for them to play. On either side are suites and there’s an additional double bedroom with twin beds that can be joined together.

The house is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden with three outdoor sitting areas: a cemented patio area near the house with a retractable shade-structure ideal for open-air meals, a deck area around the swimming pool next to some of the most beautiful oak trees on the property, and a roof-top terrace perfect for watching the sunset and the stars. Likewise, there are numerous shaded areas under which to rest and take cover from the sun.
