Parking garage Zwolle | Dok architecten
Zwolle / Netherlands / 2016
The parking garage in Zwolle is a real eye-catcher. Form and function are inspired by a journey on the Silk Road through Central Asia, where travelers come together in a caravanserai; an overnight place for travellers. Oriental tones and patterns adorn the facade of the garage. This gracefully curls around the building, jutting out at the top. The masonry has five different patterns and is attractively accentuated in the evening with spotlights. This creates an almost dreamy atmosphere. Just a fairy tale.
The roof of the garage consists of 800 square meters of solar panels. A smart routing limits unnecessary exhaust emissions and the energy-efficient LED lighting system only comes on when there is activity. Nature is also welcome. Green hanging plants line the rear facade and all around there are nesting and hiding places for swallows and bats. Sustainable in nature, the garage complies with the BREEAM quality mark.
