Real estate recovery project inside a historic building in a typically Milanese district known as the Naviglio basin.

The project is based on the idea of ​​keeping the original structure of the building legible: everything revolves around the large structural arches that draw the internal volume and open it towards the light of the courtyard and the urban space.

An overlapping game between existing and new architectural elements is expressed in the choice to keep the original old wooden windows and to add new aluminum frames with a minimal design to the interior, thus ensuring adequate thermal-acoustic comfort and creating a cavity green ‘that filters inside and outside, ancient and modern.

The kitchen and living area on the ground floor is separated from the sleeping area and bathrooms with double sliding doors, then connects with the light iron staircase on the mezzanine floor and with the massive concrete staircase in the basement.

The interiors favor the authenticity of the materials where industrial finishes such as carpentry and iron sheets alternate with concrete, cement resin and more traditional finishes of the residence such as oak parquet or bathroom ceramics.
