a modern construction next to a century-old structure. an exciting dialog between the old and the new. the task: to build a house of character alongside already existing structures: a chapel from the 15th century and a hotel from the turn of the 20th century. the result is a small fortress, resting between the autobahn, state road, and the eisack river. dark red, enameled glass and grey exposed concrete divide the structure into two zones. the concrete base holds off prying eyes and noise, leading further into the building and offering cover to the inner courtyard. the windows and notches correspond with the function of the rooms they are in. the red windowpanes equally mirror and connect both the surroundings and the older structures, respectively.
