The main idea of the project

To create light and functional apartment for a family of two adults and two kids out of relatively small space (74 m2)

Color palette

Cheerful colors with bright tone dominating.

Clients – young couple with two small sons, 3 and 7 y.o. Psychologists working intensively, today mostly from home, preferring physical activities on vacations. They have good taste and rational mindset; such a combination can be considered as a nice bonus for designer.

They appreciated contemporary art, and we used different works of contemporary artists and unusual interior ideas in different rooms.

As the total square of the apartment is not big, we decided to use light colors on the walls and in the furniture, glass and mirrors.

To pronounce the entrance area, we chose sophisticated intensive blue for one wall. This was the only place where we allowed ourselves to use dark tone. At the same time, it was decorated by the part of a big mirror circle, reflecting sitting room perspective. Corresponding minor part of this circle was placed on the perpendicular wall continuation.

As the height of the place was sufficient, we used wide cornices and plinths, that add festiveness to the space. Contemporary floristic and geometric patterns, rounded corners of moldings and furniture, flutes on the kitchen as well as art, all that makes the interior actual.

Originally the apartment layout was free (it is a new building project) but recommendations regarding walls configuration. Leaving room and kitchen were combined therefore there is a limited space for each of them. Thus kitchen itself is quite small, cooking surface is also relatively small, there are only 3 cooking rings which is not typical for Russia. At the same time there is rare cooking in the family, parents are working a lot, mostly the food is bought ready-made.

There is no habit of TV watching among family members, and there was a chance of organizing lounge with sofa and armchair opposing it.

Two w/c were planned, which is quite comfortable for 4 people.

Storage was placed in the corridor and in the parents’ bedroom. Wardrobes in the corridor are colored very close to the color of the walls, that’s why there is no clutter feeling in this area. On the contrary wardrobe in the bedroom is pronounced, but not overspoken due to off-white tone.

Kids bedroom is spacious and light. Floor-to-ceiling window on the sunny side and light-blue colors make this space for two boys sound cheerful.

We decided to add light into master-bedroom through big glass doors from leaving room as bedroom’s window borders with the balcony and overall the room is quite dark. Such a construction with facet glass, reflecting sunlight, added elegance to both rooms.

Ceilings in total apartment are more than 3 meters, that brought additional air and light into all spaces.
