IKIGAI | AIM

IKIGAI; the Japanese word that epitomizes the connection between what we are, what we do and what we love, is the name AIM has chosen for its new interior design project: from an unused attic to a tribute of elegance and comfort.
Beginning with the existing structure, the design studio has addressed two phases: structural renovation with the attic's restoration, and the architectural project itself. Inspired by Japanese aesthetics, with clean lines and sensual shapes, AIM makes use of colours and materials to
emphasise contrast and give the rooms a unique character. The living and sleeping areas are divided by a partition covered with cement finish brushstrokes punctuated by frames, reminiscent of a modern-day Byōbu.
In the living area, freestanding furnishings dominate, dramatized by the scenic backdrop of the light-coloured kitchen in the background. A long corridor leads to the sleeping area, with high wood panelling and the newly renovated dividing partition, which here takes on the function of a
permanent wardrobe.
Comfort and flexibility are accentuated and never sacrificed by virtue of elegance, indeed they dialogue with shapes and the surroundings to create a space where actions, thoughts and passions converge and find their ideal setting.

IKIGAI, parola giapponese che riassume l’intersezione tra ciò che siamo, ciò che facciamo e ciò che amiamo, è il nome che AIM ha scelto per il suo nuovo progetto di interior design: da sottotetto inutilizzato a celebrazione di eleganza e comfort.
Partito dalla struttura esistente, lo studio di progettazione ha affrontato due fasi: il rifacimento strutturale con il recupero del sottotetto, e il progetto architettonico. Ispirato all'estetica giapponese, con linee pulite e forme sensuali, AIM ricorre a colori e materiali per enfatizzare i
contrasti e dare un carattere unico agli ambienti. La zona giorno e la zona notte sono divise tra loro da un setto rivestito di pennellature in finitura cementizia scandite da cornici, ad evocare in chiave moderna dei Byōbu.
Nella zona giorno dominano gli arredi freestanding, drammatizzati dalla quinta scenica creata dalla cucina dai toni chiari sullo sfondo. Tramite un lungo corridoio si accede alla zona notte, con alte pannellature in essenza e il ritrovato setto divisorio, che qui assume funzione di guardaroba continuo.
Comfort e flessibilità sono enfatizzati e mai sacrificati in virtù dell’eleganza, anzi dialogano con le forme e le atmosfere per creare uno spazio in cui azioni, pensieri e passioni convergono e trovano la loro ambientazione ideale.
