Nethen | A house between mimicry and rupture | DéDal architectes

This single-family house is located in the heart of a rural environment on a complex corner plot, on the edge of a wood. Both the particular configuration of the site and the peri-urban stylistic context of 1960s housing led us to question the meaning of integrated architecture. 

Between mimicry, reference and rupture, this project proposes to take advantage of the constraints but also of the potential of the environnement. The architectural response wants to be both anchored in its physical and cultural environment but also singularly in rupture with them. This results in geometries and spatialities as scars of these tensions.

The orthogonal plan is disturbed by the drawing of the facades that it accompanies to close and expand the interior spaces. The tripartite composition of the house organizes the entire program around the core of circulation and a void accentuating the visual connections between the day and night areas. Despite the apparent plan openness, each space is defined and has its own identity ensured by variations in heights, views and materials.

Cette maison individuelle est située au cœur d'un environnement rural sur une parcelle d'angle complexe, à l'orée d'un bois. Tant la configuration particulière du site que le contexte stylistique périurbain de l'habitat des années 1960 nous ont amené à nous interroger sur le sens de ce que peut signifier une architecture intégrée. 

Entre mimétisme, référence et rupture, ce projet tire parti des contraintes mais aussi du potentiel de l'environnement. La réponse architecturale se veut à la fois ancrée dans son environnement physique et culturel mais aussi singulièrement en rupture avec ceux-ci. Il en résulte des géométries et des spatialités comme autant de cicatrices de ces tensions.

Le plan orthogonal est perturbé par le dessin des façades qu'il accompagne pour fermer et élargir les espaces intérieurs. La composition tripartite de la maison organise l'ensemble du programme autour d'un noyau de circulation et d'un vide accentuant les connexions visuelles entre les espaces de jour et de nuit. Malgré l'apparente ouverture du plan, chaque espace est défini et possède sa propre identité assurée par des variations de hauteurs, de vues et de matériaux.
