WORKING AT THE PARK

We’re taking the office outside. Lots of light, lots of plants and trees. A park-like atmosphere with pendulum shaped benches for enjoying a cup of coffee. Different floor surfaces with grass stubbornly popping up between the tiles and a zebra crossing. And like with rail tracks, the working desks get their power supply from above.

The real work at Stroomlijn takes place in the city; they regulate the transport flow for public organisations. The company's name Stroomlijn (Streamline in English) stand exactly for what it does: Streamlining the customer's journey.
The General Manager of Stroomlijn immediately understood the outside-inside connection when I presented the interior concept. She was very enthusiastic and gave me carte blanche for the interior design of their new office spaces.
She had a few conditions such as: reusing as much furniture as possible, attention to sustainability and circularity as well as good lighting. And a special attention to the acoustics of the working space. “Our people are on the phone all day long”.

The interior design is inspired by the principles of Biophilic Design: increasing the interior’s connectiivity with the natural environment by using direct and indirect elements from nature. We as people are getting further and further away from nature while at the same time we have a primal desire to be connected with it.
