Just a stone's throw from the famous church of Sacre-Coeur, in the ‘painter’s quarter’, one of the most charming and picturesque in Paris, this private residence houses a generously sized Atelier kitchen, a bespoke kitchen design by Abimis in collaboration with the architect, whose overall approach to the interior design was aimed at meeting the aesthetic and functional needs of the owner, a keen art enthusiast and cook.

The house, characterised by exposed brickwork and other characteristic features of Parisian architecture, is laid out over two floors: the kitchen, living space and dining area occupy the ground floor, while the second floor houses the bedrooms and study. Large windows flood the space with light, and the house overlooks a quiet, leafy inner courtyard on one side, and a private garden on the other. The minimal style, created with just a few eye-catching pieces of furniture and decor, blends with the original decorative features and precious works of art, collected by the owner, establishing the overall theme for the entire house.

The space containing the Atelier kitchen by Abimis, with its characteristic square-shaped unit doors and sleek design, is open, bright, cosy and well-appointed.
A covered terrace extending out over the private garden lends the space character and originality. This architectural quirk offers greater visual freedom, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor, and which brings even more light to the work surface.

The large corner kitchen consists of two solutions, differing in shape, finish and function. The first houses the cooking area, with double hob, teppanyaki grill plate, ovens and concealed hood, and is made entirely from AISI 304 stainless steel, including the work surface. The second, which includes the washing area and another spacious work area, is also made from steel but with a Richlite® coating, an extremely durable, impermeable material made from recycled and pressed paper. The top is in white enamelled slate. The different finishes are linked by a system of storage and shelving which is seamlessly fitted to the irregular shape of the walls. Abimis also created the practical spice-shelf and the unique organically-shaped work surface which ‘hugs’ one of the load-bearing columns, also in steel.

The elegant layout of this Abimis kitchen, made to measure in order to integrate with the surrounding space, represents a new interpretation not only of the concepts of functionality and quality, but of daily life, helping to create a space as refined and cosy as it is versatile, in a perfect blend of efficiency, materials, style and design.
