The proposed concept is to bolster word by word the idea of a living museum by connecting the two Arengario towers by two cable car systems. The moving globes, a horizontal transportation and observation structure, is to become a popular tourist attraction in Milan that will promote and enhance museum visits while also offering Milan a new view point for the city center. The extraordinary solution will fortify the image of the Museo del Novecento as an active cultural space and a symbol of modernity and change, the symbol of a city that never sleeps and that recognizes innovation as central and offers plenty of space for contemporary art and culture.

The proposed movable structure will preserve the urban context by neither hindering the view towards the Torre Martini in Piazza Diaz or the arch of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, while at the same time becoming an important attraction in Piazza del Duomo.

The cabins (monocable gondolas) mainly made of glass and lightweight aluminum construction are to become the eye catcher on the ropeway installation. In addition to the use of high-grade materials aluminum safety frame and automatic safety doors will guarantee extremely reliable operation and long service life. Attractive and intelligent design of gondolas are to be user friendly and offer optimum performance in wind for maximum safety. Even in the event of a maintenance service operation of one cable car system, there will always be the second one to function.

At night, the cabins are to become bright artworks by incorporating colored LED lighting into the structure. The cabins themselves can become structures that can be decorated according to seasonal holidays (Christmas bulbs) or showcase modern and contemporary art which combines visual arts, photography, cinema, music and performing arts.

The cable ways are to use plastic profiles between the strands with the goal of eliminating strand-related vibration in haulage and hoisting operations. These profiles fill the surrounding circular area nearly completely, separating the strands from one another and stabilizing them in position. As a result of its smooth cylindric surface structure, the rope runs practically without vibration and noiselessly over sheaves and bull wheels. Using this kind of ropes is recommended for systems that operate for extended periods every day, as well as in situation in which vibration and noise would compromise the comfort and well-being of passengers, residents and passers-by.
