The renovation was long and challenging as it involved the recovery of a building in a severe state of decay.

The revival of its original form and materials aims at giving value to the context in which the building exists and its surrounding spaces.

The main masonry facade was replaced with a large arched window, restoring its original shape.

An additional gate was added on the outsi- de, made with a perforated corten iron frame of four doors that can be positioned in multiple ways according to specific needs.

The studio is accessible through a remo- vable platform which brings onto a raised surface above the opposite square.

Internally, the barrel vault, which covers the entire workshop, has been professionally renovated.

The internal space of 30sqm is conceived aroundtheminimalandmultifunctionalBlue Cube, mirroring the tones of the sea and sky which become the only seeable elements from the inside.

The Blue Cube, of about 5sqm, is the key foundation of the studio’s multiple functio- nalities: it separates the more private area of the back from the front one which serves as working space and gallery to showcase some of Davide’s works .

The working area is clearly visible from the outside with the intention to create continui- ty with the exterior.

Looking at the right side of the cube is the entrance to the small bathroom, covered with blue mosaic tiles and furnished with white sanitary fittings and taps.

On the left side, there is a small kitchenette which, in its essentiality, conceals all the necessary appliances.

The front side of the cube holds a series of bookshelves, while the upper side can be used as storage but, if necessary, it can also be used as a sleeping area.

The floor made of concrete aligns with the materiality of the outdoor space and at the same time highlights the cube itself.

On one of the walls a portion of rock is deliberately left exposed, evidence of the pre-refurbished, original building.
