CHETO Corporation S.A. aims to build a technological center for precision assembly of CNC deep-boring and milling machines with an implantation area of 2800 m2. The available land resulted from the unification of two lots in the Business Center of Ul/Loureiro, whose maximum implantation capacity was 6500 m2.

The expected program includes areas of administration, engineering and research, services for employees, socializing and meals, training, and precision assembly of deep-hole CNC machines.

The volume is bounded in three, leaning against one side of the lot, highlighting the programmatic division between administrative and assembly areas, whose intermediate volume slips from the alignment of the other two, asserting the main entrance. On the exact opposite side, in the recess, an exterior social space for employees is designed. Between the three volumes, a plane of glass separates them and allows the entrance of light, lateral and zenith, in the innermost space of the set.

Looking for integration in the landscape, currently empty, but imagining it, later, punctuated by volumes characteristic of an industrial language, the exterior facade of the first volume is assumed, abstract and textured, defined by a set of stainless-steel grilles, resembling the material used in the production of the company’s own machines.

Framing and enhancing the interior space of greater permanence, in the interior walls, which draw the required programmatic division, wood is used as present and symbolic material, in the search for the comfort of the ‘wooden house’, characteristic of the domestic space.

Thus, the outer shell, made up of steel structures, houses and shelters the wooden structures that resemble the spaces of greater closeness to the human being.
