In the right square at the right time!

Until recently, those traveling by train to Collalbo, when exiting the station building, were faced with an asphalted road and a parking lot full of cars. The Municipality has decided to change all this. Roland Baldi Architects designed a new, open and spacious place for residents and visitors as part of the reconstruction of the Mobility Centre Collalbo, with a wide variety of seating and lounging areas that invite you to take a comfortable seat.

In close proximity to the Collalbo station, the new Mobility Centre has recently been built, also designed by Roland Baldi Architects, and consisting of a bus station, a car park and an underground garage. The station square was thus the last piece of the puzzle to complete the Collalbo Mobility Centre. Roland Baldi Architects removed the street and car park in front of the station and built a new, inviting square instead. Now, those traveling on the historic Renon railway line, the last of its kind in the whole of South Tyrol and which connects Soprabolzano to Collalbo, can enjoy along the route the breathtaking view of the Dolomites and be welcomed by an elegant square at the terminus. Here tourists can find an information board to help them organise the excursions in the area or alternatively meet up with friends at the busy tables of the station bar. The flooring consists of alternating strips of green and reddish-brown porphyry cubes. This carpet of natural stone covers the entire front area of the beautiful station building and stretches all the way to the platform. The various porphyry strips are partly interrupted by small green areas or seating. The green areas are alternately planted with spherical box trees, Japanese sedge, sedum areas and red maple trees. The furniture, such as rubbish bins, bicycle stands and pole lights, were made of brown corten steel. The imposing oak tree in front of the station bar was retained. It was given a new edging and will continue to provide cooling shade for guests.

The area in front of the station was also completely restructured in terms of traffic. The former road and car park were removed and replaced by the current traffic-calmed square. Only residents of the residential area behind the station are allowed to drive through this area at walking speed. Natural stone speed bumps at both ends of the square remind drivers of the speed limit. A roundabout and a few car parking spaces have been built in front of the new square. This area works as a kiss and ride zone. It is used to stop briefly, let someone out and leave directly.

The only thing that has been kept in place is the bronze sculpture by the artist Franz Messner: a goat peering through its mirror at some sparrows, also cast in bronze, who have recently begun whistling from the station roof: " In the right square at the right time!”

Fino a poco tempo fa, chi viaggiava in treno verso Collalbo, quando usciva dall'edificio della stazione, si trovava di fronte una strada asfaltata e un parcheggio pieno di auto. Il Comune ha deciso di cambiare tutto questo. Come parte integrante del nuovo Centro di mobilità di Collalbo, Roland Baldi Architects ha riprogettato la zona della Stazione come un luogo aperto a tutti i residenti e ai numerosi turisti.

Nelle immediate vicinanze della stazione di Collalbo, è stato recentemente costruito il nuovo Centro intermodale, anch'esso progettato da Roland Baldi Architects, e composto da una stazione per autobus, un parcheggio e un garage interrato per residenti e pendolari. La piazza della stazione era quindi l'ultimo pezzo che mancava per completare la nuova mobilità del paese. Roland Baldi Architects ha ridisegnato la strada e il parcheggio di fronte all'edificio della stazione e vi ha costruito una nuova e invitante piazza. Ora, chi viaggia sulla storica linea ferroviaria del Renon, ormai l'ultima del suo genere in tutto l'Alto Adige e che collega Soprabolzano a Collalbo, può godere lungo il percorso della vista mozzafiato sulle Dolomiti ed essere accolto da un'elegante piazza al suo capolinea. Qui i turisti possono trovare un pannello informativo su cui orientarsi per organizzare per le numerose escursioni dell’area o in alternativa incontrarsi con gli amici ai tavoli affollati del bar della stazione.

La pavimentazione della piazza è disegnata in strisce alternate in cubetti di porfido verde e rosso. Questo tappeto di pietra naturale copre tutta la parte anteriore del bellissimo edificio della stazione e si estende fino ai binari. Le varie strisce di porfido sono in parte interrotte da piccole aree verdi o dai posti a sedere. Le aiuole sono piantate con bossi, piante grasse, cespugli di carice e aceri rossi. In più punti, le pietre della pavimentazione si alzano e formano delle aree di sosta impreziosite da sedute in cirmolo. Gli arredi, come i cestini, i portabiciclette e i lampioni, sono stati realizzati in acciaio corten dal tipico colore ruggine. L'imponente quercia di fronte al bar della stazione è stata invece mantenuta e continuerà a fornire un'ombra rinfrescante per gli ospiti del bar.

L'area davanti alla stazione è stata quindi completamente ridisegnata. La strada e il parcheggio sono stati rimossi e sostituiti dall'attuale piazza. Solo i residenti sono autorizzati ad attraversare la zona ma a passo d'uomo. I dossi in pietra naturale alle due estremità della piazza ricordano agli automobilisti il limite di velocità in favore della sicurezza e della tranquillità dell’area. Prima di accedere alla nuova piazza è stata realizzata una rotonda con alcuni posti auto. Quest'area funziona come zona di "kiss and ride", è quindi destinata a soste brevi, per accompagnare qualcuno alla stazione e poi ripartire.

L'unica cosa che è stata mantenuta al suo posto è la scultura in bronzo dall'artista Franz Messner: una capra che sbircia attraverso il suo specchietto alcuni passeri, anch'essi fusi in bronzo, e che hanno recentemente iniziato a fischiettare dal tetto della stazione: “Ci vediamo in Piazza!”

Platz da!

Wer bis vor Kurzem mit der Bahn nach Klobenstein fuhr, den erwartete beim Verlassen des Bahnhofgebäudes eine geteerte Straße und einen mit Autos gefüllten Parkplatz. Dies wollte die Gemeinde ändern. Roland Baldi Architects haben hier im Rahmen des Umbaus des Mobilitätszentrums Klobenstein einen neuen, offenen und großzügigen Ort für Anwohner und Besucher gestaltet, mit unterschiedlichsten Sitz- und Verweilgelegenheiten, die zum gemütlichen Platz nehmen einladen.

In unmittelbarer Nähe zum Bahnhof Klobenstein wurde kürzlich das ebenfalls von Roland Baldi Architects geplante, moderne Mobilitätszentrum, bestehend aus Busbahnhof, Parkplatz und Pendlergarage gebaut. Der Bahnhofsplatz war somit das letzte Puzzleteil, das zur Komplettierung des Mobilitätszentrums Klobenstein fehlte. Roland Baldi Architects haben die Straße und den Parkplatz vor dem denkmalgeschützten Bahnhofsgebäude entfernt und dort einen neuen, einladenden Platz errichtet. Wer jetzt mit der Schmalspurbahn, heute die letzte ihrer Art in ganz Südtirol, mit den historischen oder den moderneren Triebwagen von Oberbozen und Klobenstein fährt und die atemberaubenden Sicht auf die Dolomiten entlang der Trasse genossen hat, wird bei der Endstation von einem eleganten, natürlichen Platz empfangen. Touristen können sich an den zentral positionierten Wanderwarten an der Infotafel Orientierung verschaffen, Einheimische setzen sich zu Freunden an die belebten Tische der Bahnhofsbar.

Der Bodenbelag besteht aus sich abwechselnden Streifen aus grünem und rotbraunen Porphyrwürfeln. Dieser Teppich aus Naturstein überzieht den gesamten Vorbereich des schönen Bahnhofsgebäudes und spannt sich bis an die Gleise. Die verschiedenen Porphyrstreifen sind teilweise durch kleine Grünbereiche oder Sitzgelegenheiten unterbrochen. Die Pflanzenbeete sind abwechselnd mit kugelförmigen Buchsbäumen, Japanischer Segge, Sedumflächen und roten Ahornbäumen bepflanzt. An zwei Stellen heben sich die Pflastersteine senkrecht aus dem Boden und bilden mit Schalen aus Zirbenholz mehrere Sitzmöglichkeiten. Das Mobiliar wie Mülleimer, Radständer und Mastleuchten wurden in braunem Cortenstahl ausgeführt. Die imposante Eiche vor der Bahnhofsbar blieb erhalten. Sie erhielt eine Corteneinfassung und wird auch weiterhin den Gästen kühlenden Schatten spenden.

Auch verkehrstechnisch wurde der Bereich vor dem Bahnhof komplett umstrukturiert. Die früher bestehende Straße und der Parkplatz wurden entfernt und mit dem jetzigen verkehrsberuhigten Platz ersetzt. Dieser darf ausschließlich von den Anrainern der dahinterliegenden Wohnbauzone im Schritttempo befahren werden. Bodenschwellen aus Naturstein an den beiden Endpunkten des Platzes erinnern die Autofahrer an die Geschwindikeitsbegrenzung. Vor dem neuen Platz wurde ein Kreisverkehr sowie einige wenige Autostellplätze errichtet. Dieser Bereich soll als Kiss and Ride Zone fungieren. Diese dient um kurz anzuhalten, jemanden aussteigen zu lassen und direkt wieder abzufahren. Auf den Stellplätzen der Kurzparkzone können Barbesucher ihr Auto für einen schnellen Kaffee abstellen.

Das Einzige, das schon vor dem Umbau an derselben Stelle war, ist die Geiß - eine vom Künstler Franz Messner geformte bronzene Skulptur einer Ziege. Diese komuniziert über ihren Spiegel mit den ebenfalls in Bronze gegossenen Spatzen, die vom Dach des Bahnhofs seit Kurzem Neues pfeifen: Platz da!
