Mazzini 9 | Scandurra Studio

Scandurra Studio Architettura has won the by-invitation competition announced by Hines and Savills for the renovation of the Banca Agricola Milanese headquarters located at Via Mazzini 9-11, Milan.
The aim of this project is to preserve and restore the historic bank building, which dates back to the mid-1930s, with special care to preserve its historic street-facing façades.
The project further focuses on the interiors and the circulation, and aims to optimize all sales areas and offices by creating a greencentral area that is both a garden and courtyard, which dramatically transforms the current layout. The green courtyard is overlooked by all offices and includes a trailing plant system along the façades that mitigates the interior microclimate: this green heart contributes both to the building’s new architectural identity and the higher quality of its working environment. This project regenerates the building from the inside and changes itsrelationship with the surrounding city area, allowing Via Mazzini to penetrate the building and reach all floors.
