LGL | EIDO Architecture

LGL is a project of 11 houses that is based on adaptation to the environment both in terms of material and volume.

Designed to maximize the space in the inside, at the same time open to light and views while being protected from the strong Mediterranean sun.

Being the first project of the studio, it is a mixture of experimentation of ideas, being the 11 houses completely different in form and distribution, combined in a single clean and modulated element from the outside, allows each inhabitant to find the perfect home for him.

The idea of the project arises from the maximum use of space. Through a reinterpretation of the section of Le Corbusier's Room Unit, We proposed duplex penthouses with access from the first floor common areas in such a way that the common areas on the second floor are eliminated, using all the space available for big open homes.

This spaciousness is enhanced by large glass openings from floor to ceiling. The light and the surroundings become an enclosure, blurring the interior with the exterior.

The building closes on its sides to generate intimacy with the adjoining plots, and it opens com- pletely to the front and to the rear, to guarantee continuous light and cross ventilation.

The orientation has been studied so that the building opens to the light at the desired hours and closes to them at the hours of maximum thermal gain to improve its operation and comfort.

The quality of the enclosures is crucial given the large number of them, acting as a very important part of the envelope
