A cosmopolitain design. One of Vienna’s most famous schools of thought, when it comes to architecture is the vienna secession, the Austrian version on art nouveau. The best known member of this artistic movement was Otto Wagner who's architecture and design was instrumental in shaping Vienna. With prominent apartment buildings, mansions, museums and subway stations. The secession style emphasised contemporary art and was influenced by different styles of regions around the world. Next to the Ancient design one of the biggest influence is Japanese art.

A prominent feature in the design of this room is the Paravent. This partition itself is worth paying attention to. In German Paravents are also called "spanische Wand" ("Spanish wall") this is probably because it was prominent in Europe in 16th Century in Spain and Portugal. The design of this kind of screen however is much older, Paravents were invented in China about 2000 years ago and was soon further developed in Japan. Even though it is an old idea it has not gone out of style and is actually having a revival. For the design in the first picture we chose a screen pattern that reminds of Japanese koi fish.

The hanging lamps beside the bed are inspired by similar lamps strongly associated with Otto Wagner. All these different elements remind us of the past and other designers but are not quite the same and are matched with contemporary elements to create a timeless flair of elegance, playfulness and boldness.

As the building was originally designed by Otto Wagner, one of the biggest names in Austrian architecture history, Archisphere was planning to leave a lot of original elements and add new things with him in mind. The columns between the windows are classic identifiers for Otto Wagners style.

Archisphere would have kept the open design of the room, with its clear cut lines and different shades of white, grey and brown. We think the original aesthetic would have been complimented beautifully with pieces like this stone bar, this lively wallpaper and this carpet with its geometrical forms.
