In the aftermath of the Beirut port apocalyptic explosion and taking into consideration the planning workshop taking place as a core activity for the second-year master’s students at the urbanism department of the Lebanese University in collaboration with the order of engineers and architects of Beirut, Mar Mikhael Central Station and Park is a mixed-use development that comes to tackle several issues in Mar Mikhael / Medawar specifically and Beirut broadly.
Mar Mikhael station is a huge vacant area in the heart of vibrant urban fabric and the intention of revitalizing the station comes within a comprehensive public transportation scheme for Beirut. EGIS project is the most prominent study proposing the station as one crucial point in this new infrastructure.
