About the project

This project is located near Donglin lake. The Client is planning to take advantage of the geography characteristic and create a place full of unique experience and more function ——Riverside Gourmet Boulevard.

The project consists of three parts: Architecture, Boulevard, Rive Landscape. The three section are blended into one unity as well as being signified with the specialty of each.

Challenge

The challenge is how to integrate the buildings, landscapes and avenues on the 350-meter long river bank into a shopping and leisure scene, in harmony with the natural environment.

The uniqueness of the project

The Designer is inspired by Floating island.

Using the floating rhythm of water, the river bank will form different sizes of island space, and the curved river bank will stretch for 350 meters.The main street, is defined as Avenue Island Space, for extending the commercial space. The section along the bank is defined as Water Island Space. The designer set a pathway connecting the south and the north, combining several multifunctional experiencing spaces, such as: Open Bar, Gold Cage Swing Plaza, The Light House, The Fortune Bridge, Oxygen Bar etc.. Every function space is closely connected to the surroundings. In addition, the visitors can move from the south to the north one-way, as well as through the entrances on the building facades, so that the architecture, the boulevard and the pathway along the river will all merge in one general landscape.

The spacial and equipment arrangement is installed according to the moving rhythm of river and functionality. Unify the whole architecture and scenarios design organically in condition of assuring the commercial streamlines. The island, platform and bridge at different spatial latitude is formed into one continuous spacial system, serving as transitional elements between a series of corridors and community blocks as well,which leads to the final organic emergence of the architecture and the scenarios. is formed into one continuous spacial system, serving as transitional elements between a series of corridors and community blocks as well,which leads to the final organic emergence of the architecture and the scenarios. The recycling and energy-saving factor is always thoroughly considered during the design.

The advantages, specialty and three design elements: architecture, environment and people

1. Through appropriately exploiting the site and connecting it with river, and arranging architecture and landscape on different elevations following the terrain, the design provides multi-accessibility as well as view experience at different heights simultaneously. The close conjunction between commercial buildings and landscape facilities enables the consumers to have satisfying near-water and recreational experience during shopping and leisure time. As an introducing location of leisure, recreation, socializing, vacation, the shopping plaza is the facade of the public space. With the building blocks of children entertainment installation, it holds an enriching relationship with urban social dynamic projects.

2. Preserve the original terrain and plantation to the most extent. The vast plantation and existing trees on the other river side, on the central island and along the lakeside are completely preserved. Meanwhile, creating green rooftops and areas both saves energy and embeds the architecture into the landscape. Shopping district, as an introducing area, has light going into the whole floating island, and allows sunshine to travel through open space, entering garden from streets. VITA RIVE GAUCHE lies alongside the tranquil lake, defining public space with its facade and bank, serving as an element of social cohesive power, strengthening the connection between the playing kids and the visitors passing by in leisure. Trees, lawns and games on the bank....self-expression. On the other hand, as an extended commercial plaza of Shopping Boulevard, it proposes an interesting way of using the space in multi-layered structure, suggesting people to take care of the natural environment when we are enjoying and shopping.

3. The concept of floating island applies multi-roadway system to the entire design, arranging the space settings according to the winding rhythm of terrain and the function demands. Under the condition of keeping the commercial crowd streamline, the design organically unifies the whole architecture and landscape, forming a continuous spatial system that follows the terrain tendency at a series of different elevations including rooftop platform, viewing deck, bridge space, plaza area etc.. However, the platform system formed from following the floating streamline becomes the transition element among a series of streets and paths. Eventually these two systems come into one spatial system of architecture and environment which naturally merge with one another.
