With around 110,000 employees and operations in more than 150 countries worldwide, Emerson is a global corporation specialising in technology and engineering services for clients in the industrial and commercial markets. Emerson France was looking for the right partner to design quality furniture to fit out their local headquarters in Saint-Priest, near Lyon.

Bringing a modern vibe to an all-new office building

Totalling 4,000 sqm in area, the newly constructed building commissioned by the Group merges teams from three different sites, and will accommodate 300 people over three levels. Following recommendations by the project’s architects at Tétris, Emerson solicited proposals from Cider and twelve other firms.

Emerson’s brief? A project that combined versatility, modernism and beautiful design! With furniture dating back three decades, the clients now wanted their new premises to truly reflect who they are through modern and highly functional workspaces.

‘Cider’s team were quick to understand what we were looking for. They were considerate and driven, guiding us through every step of the project, and were able to find solutions to accommodate the specific needs that come with our line of business. They provided high-quality furnishings with a selection of modern, smart and beautiful pieces that perfectly match our office design and the company’s image. Thanks to their help, we can now enjoy a work environment that looks like us, and where our talents are happy to come everyday,’ explains Stéphane Kouma, Office and Work Environment Manager France, Emerson.

Creating an optimal fit-out to unite employees

Our biggest challenge? Ensuring all employees were on board with the future fit-out. With a project bringing together in a single location employees from three different sites, it was essential to unite collaborators and help them feel at home in the new premises.

In the words of Jacques Péridon, Cider’s Business Developer in charge of the Emerson account: ‘Working on this project was a real pleasure. Emerson and Tétris were both very responsive to beautiful designs, and we were able to build a real partnership together.’

Work-friendly office environments

Cider was in charge of providing the furnishings throughout the building. In total, 250 ‘Ecowood’ and ‘Accademia’ workstations have been installed. Additionally, eleven isolation bubbles were created to accommodate employees when they need a quieter environment to focus. The project also integrates optimal storage with 80 high and low ‘Puzzle’ cupboards.

The new headquarters includes no less than ten meeting rooms, all furnished with ‘Accademia’, ‘Ecowood’, ‘Clint’ or ‘Hangar’ conference tables.

The ‘showroom space’, one of a kind

To elevate that space, Cider custom-designed an automated hardwood table with an inbuilt touch screen — a truly unique piece. The showroom has also been supplied with 29 two-person and single-person electric bench desks to accommodate specific needs of the company’s business.

Collaborative spaces with great fittings

To encourage project collaboration, ‘Archy’ boards and ‘Vluv’ balloon pouffes complete the work environments. The project’s multiple collaborative spaces illustrate Emerson’s wish to encourage conversations between co-workers.

Plenty of relaxing lounge space

Fifteen informal lounge areas have been created across all three levels to host casual get-togethers between colleagues and provide a casual atmosphere conducive to relaxed coworking. The settings exude a sense of serenity conveyed in part by the furniture: an array of L-shaped and straight ‘Hawaï’ sofas and alcoves contribute to this intimate feel.

The decor also features products by La Manufacture, including Patrick Norguet’s ‘Gardian’ stools.

In the cafeteria, the use of bold colours makes for a vibrant and restorative atmosphere.

Comfortable exteriors to promote co-worker bonding

Three terraces have been comprehensively furnished to provide employees with a place to blow off some steam, enjoy a bit of sun and fresh air or get together for informal events.

After many years of a trusted partnership, Tétris and Cider were once again happy to work together.

‘The collective work of Tétris and Cider to design the furniture led to yet another successful collaboration, delivering a comfortable new workplace to satisfied employees,’ says Charlotte Dupuis, interior designer, Tétris.

A challenging undertaking that Cider was able to bring to fruition thanks in no small part to the team at Emerson, who were truly invested in the project. The trust that developed between the three members of the project’s team — Emerson, Tétris and Cider — helped make sure the project was completed in time and in accordance with the client’s wishes.
