Located on the first floor of the Hilton Hotel in Montreal's Chinatown, Tiramisu recalls the Italian exuberance of the 1960s in a contemporary context. The space is bathed in natural light from the impressive 75-foot long operable façade, which allows the restaurant to open up to the bustling streets of Chinatown. The abundance of natural light motivated the choice of reflective materials such as mirror and chrome. Along with the chrome and mirror, an eclectic mix of materials including marble, terrazzo, wood and velvet give the 3900 sq.ft. restaurant, unique character. Triggered by the pandemic’s stop of indoor dining, the layout of the restaurant was rethought and designed to weather another outbreak. The entrance of the restaurant is flanked by two quick service, takeout options - a small café named "MISU" and the Tiramisu pizza counter. When fully operational, customers can place orders for take-out or dine at the counters for a quick lunch or coffee. Beyond the entrance café and pizza counter is the dining room and bar. The raised angular and asymmetrical bar, frames the view from the entry, and adds dynamic perspective and movement around the space. An inverted pyramid, covered in acoustic panels, follows the shape of the bar and hangs down from the ceiling, culminating in four walnut light boxes that illuminate the central back-bar. Custom fixtures designed in collaboration with Lambert & Fils fill the restaurant with warm light. Lining the bar, fixtures made from chromed aluminum and black walnut provide intimate light. Pendants made from five powder coated stacked disks create an interesting play of light and shadow throughout the restaurant. Tiramisu has quickly established itself as one Montreal’s most exciting dining experiences.

Situé au rez-de-chaussée de l’hôtel Hilton dans le quartier chinois de Montréal, Tiramisu rappel l’exubérance italienne des années 60 dans un contexte contemporain. L’assemblage éclectique de matériaux tel que le marbre, le terrazzo, le chrome et le velours donne un caractère singulier au restaurant de 3000 pi/2. La pandémie nous a emmenés à repenser et diversifier l’offre et l’aménagement du restaurant. Près de l’entrée, nous avons intégré un petit café appelé ‘’MISU’’ et un comptoir à pizza, ou les clients peuvent passer des commandes à emporter ou s’installer aux comptoirs pour un lunch rapide ou un café. L’imposante façade de portes vitrée de 75 pieds, baigne la salle à manger de lumière naturelle et donne la possibilité d’ouvrir le restaurant sur les rues animées du chinatown. L’abondance d’éclairage naturel a motivé nos choix de matériaux réfléchissants tels que le miroir et le chrome, présent sur les façades du bar central ainsi que sur l’îlot de service / cellier. Le bar anglé et asymétrique comporte 2 niveaux ajoutant un dynamisme important à cette zone. La forme atypique du bar est projetée au plafond pour créer une imposante pyramide inversée revêtue d’un traitement acoustique de feutre et culminant en 4 boîtes lumineuses en noyer. Les luminaires de bar fait d'aluminium chromé et de noyer noir sont disposés entre les tabourets procurant un éclairage chaud et localisé. Les luminaires suspendus sont composés de plaques rondes superposées peintes d’un bourgogne texturé procurant un éclairage ambiant particulier à travers le restaurant. Ces luminaires sur mesure ont été conçus en collaboration avec Lambert & Fils, un studio de création de luminaires basé à Montréal. Tiramisu propose une ambiance festive et décontractée ayant pour but de célébrer la gastronomie montréalaise et de s’y imposer comme une adresse incontournable autant pour les montréalais que pour les visiteurs de passage dans la métropole.
