With its partially sunken sports field and stands, this sports complex fits perfectly into its varied urban landscape. Despite its dense brief, it avoids a tightly packed arrangement of space. Its anodized aluminium coating and long façade punctuated by subtle nuances give it a lightness and enable it to be easily integrated into its surroundings. The prism effect of the coating stretches up to the roof, and the extensive foliage turns it into a fifth façade, visible from a distance.
The compact nature of the building emerges from a focus on high-energy performance. Local materials, mainly timber, were priorised during construction. The many windows offer a view overlooking the center of the complex, enabling passers-by to watch the sporting events from outside and permitting those inside to maintain a visual connection with the outside world.
Thanks to the clarity of its spatial arrangement, the abundance of natural light and the simplicity of the interior, this multi-purpose sports complex provides local teams, sportspeople and school pupils with an ideal venue for training and competitions. The wide variety of connections which it forges with the city make it an outstanding public facility.
