Moroccan vibes in the heart of Bucharest Bucharest / Romania / 2020

Launched in September 2020, in full pandemic, right behind the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, Mace by Joseph Hadad celebrates the North African cuisine of the Chef’s childhood.

Occupying the ground floor of a 19th-century building, the two-floor space features generous windows and a corner positioning. Sophisticated yet welcoming, the interior design fully reflects the Moroccan theme and embodies the lively vibe of the Oriental streets.

Visible from the entrance is a visually appealing „mercato-style” area, with three key elements: a two-meter-long custom barbecue, a custom skewer display and a three-meter-high Moroccan oven that dominates the space.

The wooden ceiling with warm lights creates shadow games, also reminding of the Oriental world. The underground encompasses a more private space, with walls finished in terracotta orange and Moroccan decorations.
