Essens Budoir salon in Prague | MARTINA DESIGN

About the project:

ESSENS Boudoir is an unique shared space, which is the first store of the ESSENS Europe SE company (training center and showroom of all their products) and also a cosmetic salon with complex skincare. We started the project in 2020 at Podbaba district in Prague.

The creation of our space began with a basically equipped unit with WC, doors and floor with picked tiles.

Since day one it was clear that the front part will serve as a training center, a space for meetings and doing make-up, and the back part will be meant for cosmetic procedures.

We were supposed to create as big of a floor as possible, for the training audience, make-up zone and kitchen. That will serve as a storage space, provide refreshment possibilities and at the same time we had to focus on displaying the ESSENS products efficiently.

Because it’s a space dedicated to caring for women's beauty, where it will be possible to try decorative cosmetics, scents and many more ESSENS products, we were not afraid of colors. We picked the base color tone according to the wallpaper that we chose first, and then we harmonized the rest of the equipment to that. The key dominant of the space is a massive oak table. Along with it we placed an island to separate the training space from the caring one. In this zone, there are on-wall light bulbs, that are typical for make-up rooms. There are ceramic switches and plugs on the walls, toned to the wall colour underneath.

We chose TON chairs in orange, which create a big contrast to the blue and gray shades in the rest of the space. Since we wanted to settle a cozy environment, we decided to combine cushions of different colors and shapes, we placed plants, rugs and other design interior accessories and small furniture. The lead make-up artist of ESSENS, Mr. Pavel Kortan, helped us actively with matching the accessories.

We transported the wallpaper motif also to the shop-window stickers, and we were very glad that this design element was implemented also in the catalog of ESSENS Beauty and their new Must Have Edition collection, created by Pavel Kortan.

The salon was finished during the lockdown period, and because of that, the ESSENS company did not really have the opportunity to try the space to its full potential just yet. Nevertheless, since finishing the space, it was possible to organize different charity events there, for example in cooperation with Česká Miss ESSENS, or online trainings and webinars, broadcasted to the whole world, directed by Pavel Kortan and his team.
