One River North | MAD architects

MAD Architects' third project in the U.S. has broken ground in Denver: a striking sixteen-story residential tower in the city's vibrant River North District. The building--which features a cascading canyon that appears to "carve" into the building's façade, as if by natural forces--cements the firm's growing international footprint, particularly in the States.

Called One River North, the project fuses the functionality of urban density with the artistic idealization of the natural landscape to compose a "future city" that maintains human spirit and emotion at its core.

The building, which has 187 for-lease residences, brings a fresh and contemporary presence to Denver with a design rooted in its locale. The architecture's strong curvilinear elements are inspired by the region's mountainous terrain; the prominent landscaped chasm expands the building's exterior to increase opportunities for views, featuring outdoor "hiking" trails that meander across four stories, and providing residents with a unique urban experience of the natural world. Rippling water components, as well as a rooftop pool, spa, deck and garden--all framed by the dramatic Rocky Mountain vista--contribute to a seamless blending of the indoors and out.
