Mangusta GranSport is the Overmarine Group’s line of fast displacement yachts that combine the speed to outrun squalls and the range to explore uncrowded waters: This is in the maximum onboard comfort as per Mangusta’s tradition – a flawless combination that can be summarized as “pure versatility”.

An ideal yacht for exploration, it perfectly matches the lifestyle of an Owner who enjoys holidays conceived on the spur of the moment, looks for new, fascinating travelling destinations (no matter how far away they may be), and shares all this with his friends and dear ones.

The Mangusta GranSport 45 is the 45-meter model from this new series. This yacht holds the right to be considered a flagship. If not for her length, then for features and values she shares with the 54-meter version: same harmonious blend of stylish design and technical solutions, a strong personality and timeless elegance, sporty features and comfort, outstanding performances and maximum efficiency.

Her magnificent profile which has been designed by Alberto Mancini, who pencils the new metal lines, can best be summarised as a timeless contemporary design combined with explosive Italian style. She has just been awarded at World Yachts Trophies as “Best Exterior Design” 2019.

She is a real beauty and does not have to show off to be noticed.

An uninterrupted fil rouge connects and harmonizes the exteriors and the interiors, epitomizing the purest Mediterranean lifestyle that unmistakably characterizes all Mangusta yachts. Design and technology are skilfully combined and integrated to ensure maximum onboard comfort for the Owners and their guests regardless of where in the world they are. When at anchor or in port, the Owner and guests have abundant alfresco areas to relax.

The truly distinctive feature on this yacht is the upper deck where you can entertain and experience life to its fullest. The central living room is connected to both the stern, by large sliding glazed doors, and the forward sun bridge. The latter features a lounge overlooking 2 large sunbathing areas.  In the centre of which lies a Jacuzzi which can hold up to 7 people. The water continues towards bow, with a waterfall effect which descends to the lower deck. 3 large underwater skylights diffuse sunlight through to the Owner head below.

Thanks to a nice piece of engineering design by the Overmarine Technical Department, by moving the tender garage forward the yacht has an extra-roomy beach club.

The beach area consists of three interconnected platforms: two terraces rotate from the side connecting with the central platform and creating 75 square metres of useable area in direct contact with the sea.

This model has many layout options offering each Owner the opportunity to decide how they would like to live onboard. On the other hand, Overmarine Group’s Interiors Department is used to listen to Owners’ vision and tailored layout and décor based to suit their unique requirements.

This has been Mangusta’s approach for decades.

In this specific yacht, hull n. 1, the experienced Owners, two times Mangusta Owners, decided for a layout that perfectly matched their unique lifestyle. The design of the two salons is customized, fully made on their choice. On the main deck there is a unique, large lounge area with sofas, poufs and coffee tables, while the dining area is in the upper salon. The square table 2.20 meters per side in Kenya Black marble is in-house designed and manufactured. An example of the skill & craftsmanship of which Mangusta is capable.

Onboard there is perfect mix of in-house designed and commercial loose furniture by the major Italian luxury brands. This furniture was customized in colours and materials to match the atmosphere of the yacht.  In fact, the owner’s wife worked in close cooperation with Overmarine Group’s Design Department to select a specific colour ton for all onboard materials.  Everything from floor to ceiling including the furniture are green-grey and dove-grey.  She also asked for opaque black – painted steel for all metal finishing instead of the traditional chrome steel ones.

Lighting was a critical element in this yachts design. The study of natural and artificial light was an essential focus during construction. Glass is used in both transparent and mirrored forms, to bounce light around the interior and reduce visual barriers to the outside world. Mangusta has thus succeeded in providing total immersion in the marine environment.

Example are many: the full height sliding glass doors on either side of the main salon let the marine breeze and sunrays gently wash over the sofas. The skylights in the Owner’s head create rippling, azure patterns and mirrored partitions in the sides. The fold-down balcony in the full-beam stateroom when is open directs the natural light around the interior.

From a more technical perspective, she has a “Fast Surface Piercing Hull” (i.e. a fast displacement hull, with bulb), designed by engineer Pierluigi Ausonio together with Overmarine Group’s Technical Department.

The propulsion system consists of three MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines - two external engines connected to the fixed-pitch propeller shaft and a central engine connected to a Kamewa manoeuvrable waterjet.

A unique propulsion package that dramatically increase the flexibility of the Mangusta Gransport 45 In fact, the central unit allows either to drive the yacht to reach the maximum speed of 26 knots, acting as a booster, or to allow for comfortable sailing at night, with only one engine running, silently, safely and efficiently, at a low speed of 8 knots. This allows for a level of comfort comparable to a more complicated propulsion system. Furthermore, the central water jet allows for the joystick option offering excellent maneuverability whether its cruising or in port, and other function, such as dynamic positioning.

The engine configuration selected complies with the tightest air emission standards in this class of yachts, IMO Tier II/EPA Tier III. Comfort, both when cruising and when at anchor, is ensured by electric fin stabilizers, which ensure a faster and more effective response compared to other systems.

Like the 54 meters version, she is also built in American Bureau of Shipping Class with unrestricted navigation notation and to comply with MCA code for commercial vessels.

With her exhilarating speed, transoceanic range (3,500 miles at 11 knots), and a draft of only 2.2 m (7’2”) for navigating in shallow waters, she offers her Owner unlimited freedom of choice.
