A new second storey addition and landscape works are proposed on a  small beach house/ shack, on a corner site on the Mornington coast.

The existing house footprint is to be retained and extended on, both upwards and outwards. The east-west orientation of the house is emphasised by dividing the proposed volumes with a continuous strip of glazing, which allows sunlight to filter through void spaces within.

The materials proposed are sympathetic to the surrounding context and coastal location, being primarily timber, travertine and render finishes, with the insertion of a perforated metal “unlidded box” to articulate the main front corner of the house.

A Planning permit has been granted and working drawings are currently being prepared for construction.
