ATTICO C | Dario Castellino

This is the project for a penthouse in Cuneo, in an expansion area south of the city within a newly built multi-storey residential building.

The apartment occupies the top floor of the complex and the internal volume has large spaces and with few constructive limitations, allowing for a fair amount of design freedom. We therefore try to take advantage of the double height by inserting the creation of a large mezzanine with a metal and glass box structure, restoring transparency between the floors, allowing guests and owners to grasp the entire spatiality of the environment.

The attic is almost absent from fixed or walled divisions. The distribution of the rooms has been conceived through wardrobes-walls that separate the living areas from the sleeping areas, accessible through wardrobe doors that fit and blend perfectly between the walls. This choice "hides" the sleeping area allowing adequate privacy from the open space of the living room. On the south and north side, extensive ribbon windows have been designed, allowing the reception of external lighting and permeability between the inside and the outside. The terrace, on the other hand, is designed in connection with the interiors by inserting green elements.

The attention to the choice of materials was decisive. The floors are natural oak boards that interact harmoniously with the light of the walls and wardrobes. The mezzanine and the stairs are in oiled raw metal, in communication with the dark-colored furnishing elements. The pillars, on the other hand, have been chosen to leave them "in place" with a cleaner finish to the eye, thanks to sandblasting: a technique that abrades the surfaces through the jet of compressed air and sand.

Si tratta del progetto di un attico in Cuneo, in un’area di espansione a sud della città all’interno di un edificio multipiano di tipo residenziale  e di recente costruzione.

L’appartamento occupa l’ultimo piano del complesso e il volume interno presenta ampi spazi e con poche limitazioni costruttive permettendo una discreta libertà progettuale. Si cerca quindi di sfruttare la doppia altezza inserendo la realizzazione di un ampio soppalco con struttura in scatolari metallici e vetro restituendo trasparenza tra i piani permettendo agli ospiti e ai proprietari di cogliere l’intera spazialità dell’ambiente.

L’attico è quasi assente da divisioni fisse o murate. La distribuzione degli ambienti è stata progettata attraverso armadi-muri che separano le zone giorno dalle zone notte, accessibili attraverso porte armadio che si inseriscono e mimetizzano perfettamente tra le pareti. Questa scelta “nasconde” la zona notte permettendo un'adeguata privacy dall’open space del soggiorno. Sul lato sud e nord sono state progettate estese vetrate a nastro, permettendo l’accoglienza dell’illuminazione esterna e la permeabilità tra il dentro e il fuori. Il terrazzo invece è progettato in connessione con gli ambienti interni inserendo elementi verdi naturali.

L’attenzione alla scelta dei materiali è stata risolutiva. Le pavimentazioni sono tavole in rovere naturale che dialogano in modo armonico con il chiaro delle pareti e degli armadi. Il soppalco insieme alle scale sono in metallo grezzo oliato, in comunicazione con gli elementi di arredo in colore scuro. I pilastri, invece, si è scelto di lasciarli  “in posa d’opera” con una rifinitura che risulta più pulita all’occhio, resa grazie alla sabbiatura: una tecnica che abrade le superfici tramite il getto di aria compressa e di sabbia.
