“Natural Futurism of Chongqing” connects citizens and nature, history and future, to form a people’s park on a dramatic hill with fantastic views to Chongqing’s river and skyline.

MLA+ and Deloitte’s masterplan rediscovers lost qualities of nature, creates convenient access to the extreme topography, and proposes cultural, touristic and everyday destinations with a sound business case.

Plus Value:

+ Integrating business and spatial planning
Seamless integration of key success factors: Market understanding, site characteristics, structural planning, regeneration strategies, landscape and architectural concept, business case and operations concept for both public and private investment.

+ Spacing Nature - Ecological regeneration, concentrated construction
The former amusement park looked like a green place in middle of the city but is fact a heavily built-over hill along Chongqing’s riverbank. Through blue and green regeneration strategies 73% of the future park will be nature-oriented again. New buildings will be concentrated in three different development clusters.

+ Spacing Nature - Topography based landscape and architecture
The unique Chongqing topography is the lead characteristic of the park again. All interventions follow a careful “topo-based” approach. Buildings sit with a clear relationship on top, within, or under the terrain. Routes follow or juxtapose the landform to offer a memorable experience. Open space layouts consider the fantastic view corridors to and from the site.

+ Shaping Experiences - Unique 8D experience
The park opens to its visitors with a routing and experience system in 8 dimensions. Three new entrances lead people straight to the top of the terrain to enjoy the scenery, and to continue their journey along a comprehensive walking, cycling and bridge system.

+ Shaping Experiences - Unique 8D experience
The “hyperloop” cable car is the MOST SCENIC movement through the park. It will bring visitors to more than 300m above the river. Its four scenes “climbing mountain”, “sky view”, “diving into water” and “crossing city” will leave a lasting memory to all visitors and promote Chongqing across the world.

+ Lensing Future – Zoning linked to visitors experience
The seamless design process between MLA+ and Deloitte resulted in a “functional zoning” that strongly links visitors experience, branding and leasing strategy. We propose 10 zones, each with a clear architectural and landscape design brief for all key destinations, and each reflected in an overall business case for construction and operation.
