Maison Cazenave is a mid-century modern masterpiece and a house like no other. Overlooking the soft-sloped hills of Nouvelle Aquitaine in France and with a view of the the Pyrenees, the house seamlessly connects indoor with outdoor living.

This modern icon was built by Swiss architect Hans Demarmels in 1965 for the Cazenave family close to Orthez in the southwest of France. The one-story building is about 40 meters long and 10 meters wide. It was designed around a huge open fireplace including a so-called conversation pit, a seating area with upholstered concrete sofas. Maison Cazenave offers 350 square meters of habitable space with a 110 square meter open living/dining/cooking area on five levels, each one interconnected by two or three steps. Additionally, the house features four bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as various utility and storage rooms. The garden extends over 5000 square meters.
