Total Makeover in le Marais, Paris | stephane CAZENAVE

  We wanted to keep the original  "Hausmannian touch" and add a twist of  contemporaneity .

The plan was  typical  of the  buildings from that   time ( end of  19th  century)   living rooms and   day rooms  located  on the street side and  service rooms and rooms on the  courtyard.  THe kitchen, was  then  far away from dining room.  We decided along with the Clients,  to   relocate de kitchen, in a more central area,   and open it to the  living room.  We had to do major structural modificaitons,   such as  the   "cutting" of a thick  masonry   wall.  The makeover took  12 weeks to  finish the site.  The kitchen  is now  the central place of the  apartment .  The owners  enjoyed the  idea of the bar stools.   Each kid ( the  2  of them )  have their own  room,   and share a "kids bathroom".  Parental Room is wider and  has its own  bathroom too.   Some emblematic  furniture was  chosen by the family.   The Ambiance   refers to   elegance,  quietness   without ostentation.
