Pitstops for kids Gran / Norway / 2013
Filter is a prototype for pitstops for children. The municipality of Gran initiated a project to increase mobility and physical activity of children, where meeting friends along the route to school in the morning was an essential part.
Rintala Eggertsson Architects together with Tyin tegnestue were commissioned to design the pitstops where the children could meet, play, rest and talk before heading onwards to school.
Rintala Eggertsson and Tyin organized workshops with children at the local elementary school to harvest ideas about programming the structures and together with students at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design four different pods were designed and built during a week-long workshop.
The project was funded and co-organized by DogA (Design and Architecture Norway) and Statens Vegvesen (the Norwegian Road Authority).
