The apartment is located in an early 1900s building in the San Giovanni district in Rome and it overlooks
Piazza Tuscolo, a refined example of Roman ”Barocchetto”.
The project is designed for a young couple with the need of a house capable of adapting to changing needs
and the growth of the family unit.
The project idea was to focus the core of services in the center of the apartment by arranging around it a
sequence of rooms that can take on different functions and uses over time.
The apartment was originally poorly lit and organized according to the classic corridor layout serving a series of
rooms with different functions. Therefore, it was decided to take action with a series of demolitions with the aim
to expand the spaces and allow natural light to enter the rooms as much as possible.
The choice of materials contributes to the search for brightness through the use of light tones such as white
and bleached oak.
Wood is the main element of the project and it characterizes the floor and furnishing elements such as the
sliding door with external track, the doors of the walk-in closet and the boiserie at the entrance. All fixed joinery
furnishings have been designed and made to measure in order to make each element integrated with the
space.
