Located in the heart of the northern Lausanne countryside, this 1950s villa enjoys an extremely peaceful environment in the middle of fields. The new owners made the choice to live in the villa for a year before launching the transformation to get acquainted with this new environment and the soul of the place. The resulting project is a subtile blend of radical changes and reminiscences of the existing.

On the ground floor, the space is wide open, allowing direct access to the living room from the new hall along the new wooden partition that separates the master suite. The original load-bearing walls are replaced by two long metal beams, each of which rests in a different way on the lower floor, depending on the existing supports and the space created.

Colors and different materials are the subject of long discussions. They result in a varied palette, mixing handcrafted catelles, painted wood, textiles and corrugated fiber cement.

Située au cœur de la campagne nord lausannoise, cette villa des années 1950 jouit d’un environnement paisible au milieu des champs. Les nouveaux propriétaires ont fait le choix d’habiter dans la villa une année avant d’en lancer la transformation et ainsi faire connaissance avec ce nouvel environnement et l’âme des lieux. Le projet qui en ressort est un mélange de changements radicaux et de réminiscences de l’existant.

Au rez, l’espace est largement ouvert, permettant d’accéder directement au séjour depuis le nouveau vestiaire
en longeant la nouvelle cloison bois qui redéfinit la suite parentale. Les murs porteurs sont remplacés par deux longues poutres métalliques qui s’appuient chacune de manière différente sur l’étage inférieur. L’espace du salon s’organise ainsi plus amplement autour du nouvel emplacement de la cheminée. Il laisse dès lors la salle à manger profiter d’une relation plus simple avec la cuisine.

Les couleurs et les différents matériaux font l’objet de longues discussions. Elles aboutissement à une palette variée, mêlant catelles artisanales, bois peints, textiles et fibrociment ondulé.
