The plot, an area of approximately 4 acres, is located in Kalessa in Heraklion, Crete. The architectural study was based on the characteristics of the plot - the view, the orientation and the local climate also taking into consideration the needs of the family as a permanent home. Based on this data, a two-storey residence of 200 sq.m., with a basement and a pool, was designed. The separate orthograpic projections were synthesized in order to create the whole plan of the residence, adding aesthetical changes with their sizes and form. The linear volume of the central core of the house balances with the semi-open spaces which complement the figuration of the overall appearance of the structure.

The placement of the building was based on not only the shape of the plot, but also the orientation and the view. The detailed study of the orientation resulted in the maximum utilization of the natural light and the view, and also in the protection of the residence from the strong winds of the area. The residence is developed along the east - west axis in order to ensure an unobstructed view from every position and the rear of the building faces the public road. The entrance of the residence is located on the northern side and is central to the main structure of the residence. On the right of the main entrance are the dining area and the living room where a fireplace has been developed. The special features of the area are the large openings which provide a panoramic view and plenty of natural lighting. On the left of the main entrance one can find the guesthouse and the kitchen, which is further developed out into the yard allowing the connection between indoors and outdoors. On the first floor of the residence the bedrooms of children and the couple can be found, designed in such a way which ensures the desired privacy.

An important feature of the residence is the landscape design with the barbeque and the pool, which provides a panoramic view as it develops as a cantilever, parallel to the house on the north side of the plot.

The way, in which materials like wood, metal and glass are used, contribute to the promotion of the austerity of the design which coexists with the element of surprise.
