Medice is one of the most successful family-owned pharmaceutical companies in Germany. As an independent entity, the medium-sized company has been developing, producing and marketing top-quality medicinal products in 34 countries for 70 years. The company is on a continuous course of growth and has therefore invested in a new administrative building at its Sauerland facility in Germany. Apart from a clear structure and a suitable floor plan to meet every need, ergonomic considerations to promote the well-being of staff members played a vital part in the design of the new four-storey building. During the planning, special attention was paid to the lighting concept. Individual lighting provides more comfort and thus improves motivation and efficiency at the workplace. The needs in terms of light colour and intensity vary, depending on the user’s age and individual perception. The challenge of a modern office building
The great challenges faced by the lighting system were the light-absorbing raw concrete ceilings and the variable office floor plan. Legal standards complied with
The lighting conditions at the workplace are governed by legal standards such as EN 12464-1 and ASR 3.4 (Germany). These standards specify the required light intensity on the working surface as well as that of the entire surrounding area.
