Acoustic Tape | Antonio Galeano
Milano / Italy / 2004
The Acoustic Tape is a registered system for the acoustic control of spaces intended for music listening and that can be equipped with an orthophonic ceiling. The system is based on the modifiability of the shape of the ceiling, formed by ribbons arranged transversely to the width of the room.
Each tape is made from a 2 mm metal sheet (steel or solid aluminum) veneered on both sides by a material selected for its acoustic qualities. The images in this text show an example of a tape covered with two 1 mm sheets of fir from the Val di Fiemme.
The Ribbon hangs on two arms fixed to the ceiling. A system of steel cables with motorized movement allow a very wide range of acoustic configurations of the vault made up of the individual ribbons.
The system therefore allows you to vary the form factor of even large spaces intended for musical performances.
