The Inexistent Color I | Rogerio Reis

These artworks are part of the series “The Inexistent Color”. It's quite an in-depth study of color, a tribute and a reference to the seminal book “From colors to inexistent colors” by Israel Pedrosa, almost a bible for visual artists and which reminds me of my initiation at the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ.

When I revisited the book, right after the introduction, the enchantment with art came back to me, which we always lose with the continuous clash with the brutal reality around us. Color as a coding element of the universe, the passage of Color as the rite of transformation in the Morphosis Manifesto, the instant when something is perceived as another. The vision of the world as a source of Color in continuous movement and change. If current knowledge about the universe presents Matter as a phenomenon of energy, Color is the purest expression of Nature that embraces us.
