The clients asked for a redesign of the main floor of their craftsman home in the View Ridge neighborhood of Seattle, WA. The current layout closed the kitchen off from the other living and dining areas. The new design plan shifted the focus to the water and mountain views with the addition of a large island and accordion wall door set. When opened these folding door panels now allow access to a deck that runs the length of the kitchen. The clients love of cooking and entertaining inspired a cozy club-like vibe, similar to the interiors of a boutique hotel bar. A U-shaped built-in was created in one corner, furnished with a custom-designed expandable oak table. Materials include preppy plaids, tufted leathers, textured (hide, fur, suede) fabrics and warm metal and frosted glass lighting. The color palette is warm – grays, burnt oranges and reds with pops of rich blues and woodsy greens. All hardware is a mix of antique brass and aged nickel.

The living room is designed around a rich gray oversized tufted leather sofa. A grouping of pumpkin-stained hide ottomans and a hammered metal coffee table hold center court. A pair of woven leather lounge chairs flank the limestone gas fireplace and a custom-designed chaise fills the window seat nook. Not complete without a corner bar, the brass and glass bar cart is filled with vintage bar accessories and aged whiskies. The focal point of the new powder room is a wall of old-world patterned tile, mixed with a floating wall sink and warm gold wall faucet. The dining room now includes a built-in side board, designed to match the new custom cabinetry featured in both kitchen and living room. New artwork was curated by Swivel Interiors and includes works by Laura VanHorne, Kippi Leonard, Jen Chambers, Magdaleny Cooney. Lighting fixtures include Urban Electric, Aerin and Cedar & Moss.
